Working from home on my PC is great and I have my home computer set to handle my online business just fine. I have increased the RAM and tweaked some settings to optimize performance of my computer so that it runs smoothly for days on end. It’s in a constant state of use and I have it set to run various programs throughout the day and night automatically. I use Windows Task Scheduler to open select programs at timed intervals to perform certain job functions necessary to my job and business.
For a long time one computer was plenty to run my business but as things have grown I have been required to run more than one computer to perform the myriad of tasks and services I need to manage my network of sites. I now have three computers networked together in my home office and I have them each set with different programs that run reports and perform tasks such as website submission, and traffic statistics and analysis. I now have two server hosting our websites, one is a unix based server and the other is a newer Windows server. The Windows machine is pretty nice and has a pair of Xeon processors and lots of RAM. The new server is great for running Windows applications that are processor or data intensive such as reading log files.
