If you are looking for a fast easy way to back up files on your PC then you have to take a look at this easy to use Freeware application from Microsoft called Synctoy.

This free backup tool works well and for the money it does more than many software programs costing as much as $60. Why pay for backup software when you can get this easy to use folder syncrhronizer at no cost at all. I use SyncToy to backup my web development projects on a network share. This allows me to maintain a common backup location on my network and I sync files from up to 4 PC’s on the same machine.

Setting up and running SyncToy for the first time is so easy I won’t bothger you with details. It really is as simply as point and click and withing one minute I had a backup schedulked and ready to sync each day at the correct time. Maintaining backups is easy with these 5 modes for SyncToy.

Synchronize: New and updated files are copied both ways. Renames and deletes on either side are repeated on the other.
Echo: New and updated files are copied left to right. Renames and deletes on the left are repeated on the right.
Subscribe: Updated files on the right are copied to the left if the file name already exists on the left.
Contribute: New and updated files are copied left to right. Renames on the left are repeated on the right. No deletions.
Combine: New and updated files are copied both ways. Nothing happens to renamed and deleted files.
