I’ve been using my camera to blog on various websites since I bought the first one years back. It was not called blogging then but I was adding pictures and articles at pretty regular intervals for quite some time. Things faded out until about a year ago when I started blogging more about the kids and our trip to Jamaica. Once I got to Jamaica it was so much more fun to take pictures and add them to the site that almost every blog post became about the pictures.
My SeaLife ReefMaster Mini Underwater Camera – SL320 made blogging a lot more fun because the waterproof / shockproof features made is easier to take places. I had the most fun shooting pics underwater and at the beach but I soon realized my point and shoot digital camera was lacking in some areas. When I tried to take some upclose shots of things like flowers and bugs the camera would not focus well and the lack of manual focus was frustrating. The Macro mode on the SeaLife ReefMaster Mini Underwater Camera – SL320
did not seem to do much at all and taking close ups sucks. The camera was great but made more for diving and it does not take the greatest photos. The SL320 was stolen from me in Jamaica and I just ordered an Sealife SL321 ECOshot 6.0MP Digital Camera with 4x Digital Zoom (Rated to 75′) with 1 GB SD Card
to replace it. Most of my dive photography will be under the 75 foot limits of the 321 and I just don’t need the ability to go down to 135 feet which is all the 320 does in addition. The 321 is going to be just a dive camera and used on sports adventures like river walks and dive trips.
While hanging here at moms house in Ocala for the holidays I found a great deal on a Panasonic FZ-30 at Ocala4Sale.com and snapped one up for $300 with an extra battery and charger. I did not know exactly how cool this camera was until I played with it for some time. I absolutely love this thing and it takes much better photographs in all conditions. I have not posted any of my pics yet because they all require some editing. This camera is 8 mega pixel and I have 2GB SD cards in it so I can store lots of really big photos. I need to make them web ready and upload them but I have not processed many as of yet. I have been too busy taking more pictures and I’ll sit and edit a bunch of them soon. Suffice it to say it take much nicer shots with the 12 times optical zoom and manual focus ability. It has a lot of differnt scene modes and works well outdoors, during the night and even while in motion. I’ve played around with all the settings and learned quite a lot about my new camera.
I’m hoping to score another JVC Mini DV in the coming days to go with the load of accessories I already own for it. I like the video we capture of the kids on the Mini DV tapes and it seems to work better for my wife and the family. The FZ-30 is a bit more advanced and heavier to carry all day long.
So, I’ll be posting more photos on my other blogs soon and when we get back to Jamaica I am looking forward to heading out to places like Roaring River and Sugar Valley with my new toys.
