I had someone ask me to offer some advice on what to do with a site as far as optimization and promotion were concerned. I quit working for clients and focused solely on my own network of sites about 2 years back after a string of bad clients with ridiculous expectations and whining attitudes. I seemed to collect idiot clients that wanted me to create miracles like “top ten listings” for the keyword mortgage. The trick here was this guy thought I should guarantee top ten listings as in all of the first ten listings for the keyword mortgage and I should be able to do it for just his one site with different pages. Yup, that was one of the last ones I entertained.
I removed all references to providing services to others and began working on my own sites. It was just better for me to build on mhy own network then it was to hassle with clients. That has work well for me for the past couple years but maybe that will change. My new client proposed to pay me $400 for my advice and I drafted a 12 page document in 48 hours laying out a complete marketing strategy for this already established website. My document was so in depth and overwhelming that they decided to pay me $4000 to do the work for them and I now have my first SEO contract in over 2 years at least.
I’m a bit overwhelmed by it to be honest. I was planning on taking the holidaze off this year but no such luck. I have work to do and most of it will be in December while I’m off my regular duties as blogger and father. I’ll have much more to write about with the new project and my intention is to resurrect this poor dead blog.
